Unfortunately, the pogues are not cheap... circa $50. But who knows when they might tour again? Shane can't be with us much longer...
The Format.... hmmmm... just straight ahead modern pop. Think XTC, sugarplastic, beatles... just good modern guitar pop. I think you'd like them, knowing some of the bands you do like. http://www.myspace.com/theformat, give them a listen. I don't know how much their tickets will be, but I can't imagine it'll be too much.
The Format is playing a couple different places around here, HoB in Anaheim and Avalon in Hollywood Aug 29 - Sept. 1 (and the 2nd in Las Vegas). I have a couple of friend in town that week, and one of them is also a fan. I haven't decided which show would be the best for us to go to yet, but obviously, the Avalon would be the easiest to get to.
Yeah, 50 bucks is definitely high, and more than I would pay for most bands. I definitely want to see the Pogues before they're no more, though. I'd definitely understand if someone didn't want to pay that much, though.
i was just thinking the other day that I hadn't heard from matthew in a long time. I'm glad to hear you're at least drinking good stuff (well, assuming it wasnt shitty tequila) and treating weekends like they were meant to be treated.
That's because I've pretty much given up on LiveJournal.
Just focusing my time on school, work, and drinking. But more focusing on the drinking it seems.
It's just funny that the 16 shots of tequila last night put me out of commission compared to the 7 shots of tequila, 3 irish car bombs, 2 starbucks doubleshots with south africian cream, and 1 shot of vodka I did last Saturday night (which didn't affect me at all, despite having work at 11 in the morning on Sunday).
To clarify on the last comment, I started at CineVegas at the Palms, worked my way drinking to the Shark Reef, and then finished the drinking at Forty Deuce.
There's a chance I might be out your way in a few weeks. Not sure yet, though. Friends coming into town, and they've never been, and were talking about maybe wanting to go.
Shitfaced at the shark reef. That musta been something.
We will have to hang if you get some free time if you're in the city. And if your friends or yourself need some Apple shit for cheap while you're in the city, I'm your man. Hahaha.
And shitfaced at the shark reef isn't as exciting as it sounds. One would assume I was shitfaced looking at sharks. No. They held a little shindig (in which I must've had 5-6 drinks in addition to 25-30 little quiches) in the Shark Reef lobby.
However, Forty Deuce was a fucking blast. I had more drinks and I danced with hotties on stage, including the tranny looking chick from X3.
I didn't see any sharks while being drunk. I saw lots of people. And more importantly, booze.
I thought they had a Forty Deuce in LA? It's in the Manderlay, right near the House of Blues. It's an upscale, trendy club (that's maybe the size of a shed) that does burlesque shows every few hours when open.

Date: 2006-08-13 05:45 am (UTC)Pogues would be fun. I guess it's 50/50 whether or not Shane will be drunk and singing badly, or drunk and singing amazingly.
What's The Format like?

Date: 2006-08-13 05:57 am (UTC)50 bucks is kind of high. When are you getting tickets? I have to think about that. Because, I imagine it would be a great show. But, still 50 bucks.
